Many don’t realize that Boise is a mecca for Mexican restaurants and offers some of the best traditional as well as artisan Mexican food I have seen.
It’s wonderful to be able to enjoy the many options for Mexican food here in boise, I hope you enjoy the list of places I have frequented and continue to enjoy. Note that there are so many to mention, I have only listed my favorites.
1. Madre Boutique Taqueria
Madre is a truly unique Mexican restaurant and brings food innovation to Boise. Created by a Le Cordon Blue trained chef, John Cuevas who creates his own niche style of non-traditional upscale tacos and mexican fare.
Recipes are made with the highest quality ingredients and is indeed a rich and memorable food experience. Pair with fine beers and wine, you will have a wonderful meal. I simply love this place.

2. The Matador
Boise’s own upscale Mexican restaurant offering scratch-made dishes that compliment the nuances of fine Mexican cuisine. Tequila aficionados here, you can experience food perfectly paired with the complimenting tequila for an intriguing food journey.
Serving their own private reserve tequila made in heirloom barrels, creates a uniquely original blend of heritage and artisanship. This place is amazing, enjoy!

3. Coa De Jima
Located in the heart of Boise’s historic district, this fine Mexican restaurant brings a one of kind food craft, paired with innovative design and creativity. Fresh, unique ingredients make for some truly tasty mexican food.
Dining here in is a full sensory experience. Hand crafted cocktails and upscale Mexican food with an exotic twist. Their decor in Coa De Jima is stunning and many of the tables were designed by Impact Imports, one of our favorite local furniture stores.

4. Andrade’s
Boise’s very own family friendly authentic traditional Mexican restaurant. Andrade’s brings the delicious and familiar foods from northern Mexico made with only the freshest ingredients.
This is a family owned business and provides exceptional service, along with some pretty good margaritas. This place also is active and gives back to the community. A great place for traditional mexican food in Boise.

5. Parilla Grill
This neighborhood mexican restaurant makes some tasty mexican food. They specialize in fusion tacos, burrito salad bowls and specialty wraps made to order.
They are also very well known for catering and local happy hour serving some mean margaritas.

6. Funky Taco
The name says it all, this place makes some of the best designer artisan tacos I have ever eaten. From the Shitake Birria taco to their (to die for) coffee braise brisket taco, you will be in absolute taco heaven. This unique combination of ingredients will keep you coming back for more.
Located downtown you can also see local bands and DJs perform here for some added ambiance. Its a lovely space for a non-traditional mexican meal. Get your Funky Taco on!

7. Fiesta Chicken
I cant t say enough great things about this little mexican restaurant. Along with the affordable and divine Mexican cuisine, they make some of the best rotisserie chicken I have ever eaten.
You can take your whole family out and won’t break the bank. When I don’t feel like cooking, you will find me here, you have got to try this chicken, .

8. Tin Roof Tacos
Two sisters from Texas sharing their passion for Texican street taco recipes, provide a great place to try something new. Tin Roof also offers catering, their food will perk up any party.
This spot is a Boise State student favorite so get there early for lunch if you want to get a seat. Tacos and a beer are just what the doctor ordered.

10. Adelitas
It doesn’t get any more authentic than Adelitas. Signature Mexican restaurant serving only the most traditional Mexican comfort food. The street tacos are my favorite, and love pairing them with the original home made sauces and salsas. Dont miss this great shop!
They also have a unique shop attached to the restaurant with food products from Mexico you probably can’t get anywhere else.
